These days, State Senator Loretta Weinberg won’t speak to Englewood Mayor Michael Wildes or Bergen County Democratic Chairman Joseph Ferriero unless she absolutely has to. So many people were wondering why Weinberg, minus Assemblywoman Valerie Huttle and Assemblyman (and Lyndon LaRouche donor) Gordon Johnson, who both live in Englewood, dragged herself to a fundraiser for Senator Frank Lautenberg at Wildes’ home last night and stayed until nearly the last person left.
In addition to Lautenberg, Ferriero, Bergen County candidates Sheriff Leo McGuire and Freeholders Jim Carroll, Elizabeth Calabrese and Tomas Padilla, as well as District 39 candidate for Senate Joe Aryian and Assembly candidate Esther Fletcher, were all there.

even if she goes just to support Frank....why on earth would she let herself be photgraphed (all smiles) with Ferriero and Wildes??
Because she is terrified...
...that Huttle and Johnson no longer have support in the Jewish community. And you know what? She's right. If they get re-elected, this is their last term in the Assembly. (Wildes has a strong following in the Jewish community.)
That's Weinberg's Job....
She's a professional, and showing up at a Lautenberg fundraiser to support Frank Lautenberg is a good thing.
Had she declined out of some fear of being smeared by folks who would associate her with the agendas and tactics of the Ferriero/Wildes BCDO (and the pay to play contingent in general) she would be criticized for that too.
There's no way for Weinberg to "win" with her critics; who are, for the most part, simply doing all they can to keep the pay to play gravy trains running "on time".
The values/movement that Loretta represents and manifests are a direct threat to a status quo that is morally and ethically corrupt.
Frankly, every time she shows up to one of these large events (it's even more ironic when it's in the home of a BCDO recruit) it actually shames everyone there who still supports the de facto corrupt status quo.
Pay to Play is a relic from an age when the sheep were fat and wooly and bissfully ignorant. Those days are over. There's not much left to steal. People are catching on to the "same ole same ole".
You really can't fool all the people all the time.
Having said that, the change won't come easily; the Douglass quote below is, literally, true.
(By the way, here's some video of Loretta in a room with the whole BCDO contingent; that's you'll find of interest if you haven't already seen it in full. http://blip.tv/file/198913)
From Frederick Douglass..........
If there is no struggle there is no progress......Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.
you're right, she can't fool all the people all the time...
...and Loretta is a professional.
Surprise Surprise
Ask not what your county can do for you, but what Loretta Weinberg can do for herself. She claims to be the "real democrat" well we see what that means - hypocritical and serving only her interests.
Professional
If Loretta was at an open fundraiser and took the picture fine - but this was a private run event at Wildes home that he put together - that is where I take issue.
AS THE SAYING GOES!!!
Keep your friends close and your enemies CLOSER!!!!
Weinberg the lier
Now that the truth is out. Everyone can see it was all a show to fool the voters. Weinberg was just pretending to be a "REFORMER" and to be "AGAINST FERRIERO". It was just a "BIG LIE". It just makes you sick when you think about it. She did the same at her previous election. Now we all know that in real life her and Ferriero are eating from the same plate. She is one face in private and another one in public. Clara Nibot was right when she said. "You have to look at the two sides of Senator Loretta Weinberg and don't be fool by her". I hope the electorate do it before they vote tomorrow.
Loretta, we know it was you!!!
...and we are keeping you CLOSE.
LOL Did You Watch The Video....
.....in which Weinberg and Company backs down a whole pack of wolves?
http://blip.tv/file/198913
I understand, you have to harp on whatever slivers of shreds you can try to concoct; but this one is just plain silly.
And I suspect that Senator Lautenberg would object to agents of the BCDO/Wildes cheapening an event that was planned to honor him and pay tribute to him being used in this kind of dumb ploy/characterization.
Anyway, knock yerselves out. Just be sure to spell her name right.
That's Loretta Weinberg! Unbought, and unbossed.
PS
I suggest a public forum, now that this election is near it's close, in which Weinberg and, say three others comprise a panel and Ferriero and and his team engage in a public debate/discussion on the topics of pay to play/legalized bribery/campaign finance reform/ethics and morality in government and the adequacy of criminal sanctions for vilations of the public trust.
Four on four. Let's make it an all day conference with lots of time for in depth discussion and lots of Q&A from the public.
Light is a good thing! No?
Here's our big chance to shed lots of light on the Weinberg Agenda vs the Ferriero Machine.
Let's Go For It!
From Frederick Douglass
Nick you are without question
the most self important man I have ever read. You make Gore Vidal seem humble, only you have a fraction of his brains, historical knowledge or common sense. What have you ever accomplished that makes you such an expert on everything?
Of course there are those...........
who will laugh at this but: Let's start with the $10.00 max from 800 citizens earning matching funds.
I believe it's a good idea to have lobbyists pay for municipal/County/State expenses instead of directly to a campaign. Of course each campaign has donators who contribute to their neighbor or local councilperson through one way or another, but if special interest groups actually contributed to the public entity itself, think of the savings. Think about it. There are so many things that can be purchased by lobbyists making their candidate look good and benefitting the taxpayers. Walkways, Senior citizen centers, painting, benches, maintenance and facilities supplies, uniform cleaners, vehicles etc, etc. The list goes on and on. What I'm trying to say is - imagine a green bench and instead of "Dept. of Parks - Harry Fotzmaker - commissioner" You just saw "donated by Sticky foot enterprises - for our friend Harry Fotzmaker". It could work and it could save mega millions to every community.
I keep getting this feeling there's something I have to do today..........
Lautenberg, not Weinberg
Loretta is on the other side of Lautenberg for a reason. LOL!
The real scandal is how politicians higher up in the foodchain (Gov. Corzine, Sen. Lautenberg) compromise themselves and undermine reformers by kowtowing to the Pay-to-Play Bosses. They do it to get the money and support from the Bosses' donor networks, not to mention their swarm of bought and sold sycophants and hangers on.
Where is the courage and leadership from the Top?
While it would be nice to have had a clean, alternative fundraiser for Lautenberg, NJ donors have been trained in our Pay-to-Play Spoils System. Clean Elections public funding is the alternative, because selfless money will never be greater than the money from special interest favor seekers.
I am particularly dissapointed in Corzine and Lautenberg for not risking more in confronting this corruption and its practitioners. NJ politics is an embarrassment, as it closely resembles that of a Third World nation overrun by War Lords.
At least we have indoor plumbing.
Lovepolitics and the cost/benefit ratio
No, lobbyists aren't looking to save the public money and pay retail.
Special interests and lobbyists have rightfully calculated that they can hugely leverage their tens of thousands of dollars of donations into predictable awards of millions of dollars in patronage goodies. There is no advantage to fund the expensive services. They want to be on the RECEIVING end of money, not the other way around.
The hugely favorable cost/benefit ratio on a relatively modest investment makes the Pay-to-Play System actually work. Our politicians and bosses can sell out CHEAP because, after all, they trade OPM (public money, not theirs) for those political donations and mutual back scratchings.
Donors know that paying modest amounts to those in control, not professional competence, is actually the most predictable way to get to the head of the line at the public money trough.
That goes for ambitious politicians who will ingratiate themselves through money and cooperation to get on the ballot lines controlled by the bosses.
Hence, another Wildes photo op with Joe Ferriero, the man he used to compare to a "rat." (Record, Oct 20, 2002)
Bodoc is Spot On....
When he says....
"Loretta is on the other side of Lautenberg for a reason. LOL!

The body language/positioning is the message in the pic. Again, had Loretta not shown up; the same BCDO flunkies would be condemning her for that.
Let's face it; with a history/track record of bossism/machine politics like the Ferriero BCDO and it's recently acquired sycophant Wildes; what else can they do but try to distract attention away from their own record?
Talk about "self importance"; check dis out...

Let's end this silly thread with a wee bit of unity and all pull for Cardinale to lose. :-)

NORPAC
What Wally somehow didn't get around to mention ("the WHOLE truth, Wally, and nothing but the truth") is that this was not a BCDO event, but THE NORPAC event in Englewood just before the election. Loretta's attendance appears to be in support of NORPAC and Israel, not an endorsement of the BCDO characters who would like nothing better than to camouflage themselves in the NORPAC aura. NORPAC describes itself as "...a non-partisan political action committee whose primary purpose is to support candidates and sitting members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives who demonstrate a genuine commitment to the strength, security, and survival of Israel." Doesn't appear to be a BCDO event, although that would seem to be Wally's implication.
BODOC is englewood race baiter Bob Stern
as a long time Englewood resident (along with the city's clergy, of all denominations), I found your race baiting campaign for Mayor last year the most offensive and demagogic trash to hit Englewood in many years. Sir, it is you who are an embarrassment, to this city and politics in general (and that is quite an accomplishment, given the standards of most politicans.) I trust you are also offended that Lautenberg was at your nemesis Michael Wildes' house, not yours. Bodoc, as your landslide defeat proves, the vast majority of people of Englewood don't care what you think. In two short years your friend Gordon Johnson will be joining you in private life, where he too belongs. You and Johnson are both extremist radicals who will say or do anything to further your own egotistical goals.
FYI, there are plenty of Lautenberg/Israel events
...NOT at Michael Wildes house. Weinberg is in a panic because your main backer Johnson is dragging her down in the Jewish community, so she went running to Wildes house. Please Bob. People outside of Englewood may buy your **, but we know you so well...save it.
EW You Throw Out Radical Accusations...
... against someone who proudly ran for office in your town.
Yet you remain a voice sniping from the gutter of anonymity.
The least you can do is to document your charges in full.
You throw around words like "Nazi" and "race baiter"; yet you object when you are told to "cut the crap" as if you were some kind of innocent child.
You want to start the next race for Englewood mayor now? Be my guest.
I'll tell you what, how about you and Bob Stern have a moderated public debate of all of your political differences. I'll be happy to make a video of it and put it up on the web.
:-)

Englewood Watchdog
Calm down, Dad.
Yes, Stern and Johnson are race baiters...
At least the head of the Black Clergy Council and Englewood's leading rabbi thought they were (see below)...but of course you Nick, know better than they. The way you would read this Bob Stern was just being “progressive.” Please… http://www.michaelwildes.com/documents/EnglewoodClergyLetter11.06.pdf Nick, keep your video camera at home and do whatever it is you do with it there. Englewood doesn’t need to see anymore creatively edited videos from Bob Stern’s “filmmaker”/malcontent son either. Because you don’t even live in Englewood, Nick trust in this from the street and people’s homes: Bob Stern offended many people last year and will never be Mayor and Gordon Johnson will not be re-nominated for Council. In fact, Johnson’s handpicked candidate for Council was badly defeated last night. Did you know that Nick?
Race Baiters?
I would like to see more representatives whose primary purpose is to support candidates and sitting members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives who demonstrate a genuine commitment to the strength, security, and survival of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA where we live, eat and breathe.
I'm sorry, you can all it race bating, you can even throw the old faithful "anti-semite" out there but in case you have not noticed this is crunch time people. The time for divided loyalties has passed us. Can US policy be favorable toward Israel? Yes, by all means, I'm all for it. Am I going to tie myself, my kids, my counrty in knots trying to support a right wing policy of "OIL and Israel",which by the way is on the wane in Israel, NO! NO! NO!
I really like how some are so quick to challenge the loyalty/patriotism of latinos who show pride in their county of origin but Israeli-Americans who will tell you to your face that they are biased toward Israel get a pass.
If that's what you call race baiting or are accusing anyone else here (Johnson, BCDO,etc.) of doing, then I gues you better throw me in too.
Vague Charges, No Specifics....
EW, the letter you linked says nothing factual. It states conclusions and opinions; but about what, in particular, it doesn't say?
What are the particulars. What was said and/or done? When? By whom? Who were the witnesses?
Be specific, tell us the truth, the whole truth...and nothing but the truth, as you honestly believe it to be.
If your truth is credible after due dilligence is applied; then I just might change my mind about certain things.
But you'll have to do better than this vague letter that is little more than conclusions, opinions and vague accusations.
