Larry Weitzner, the CEO of Jamestown Associates, issued a statement this evening on the death of his business partner, Tom Blakely:
We are all shocked, saddened and incredibly confused about what happened today. It is so hard to believe. It is terribly, terribly sad. I hurt for Tom's wife and for his two baby children who will not know what an amazing guy Tom Blakely was. I hurt for him, because this should not have happened --he had too many things he wanted to do, too many great things that could have been done, too many elections he wanted to win. And lastly, it is sad for all of us because we have lost a great friend and such an important part of our family.
We will let everyone know when arrangements are being made. I spoke to Tom's wife Debbie and she appreciates all our wishes. We will be helpful in every way possible.
Let's think of Tom and his family and remember his patriotism, his service to his country, his spirit and his passion for life.
