They don't know anyone in politics
The reason they have to do stuff like this is because no one tells them anything about NJ poitics so they have nothing pertininet to write about. Sometimes someone calls up and drops an item (and then later buys space in their "year end report") but they don't actually have any insiders they can talk to, like Wally or Steve Kornacki did. Of course, they have Carla, but let's not go there.
