This is what people are talking about today

The news that will have New Jersey's political community buzzing today is a report that James E. McGreevey told Oprah Winfrey that the first time he had sexual relations with Golan Cipel was while his wife was in the hospital having their daughter. Dina Matos McGreevey was hospitalized for several weeks prior to the birth of their daughter on December 7, 2001 -- less than a month after McGreevey was elected Governor. Just after taking office in January 2002, McGreevey named Cipel to serve as his Homeland Security Advisor.

Cheating on your wife while she's in the hospital giving birth?

Cheating on your wife while she's in the hospital giving birth? The kiss of death to an Oprah audience. Those women may buy some of his books, but only to throw at him. I see stacks and stacks of unsold books come next Tuesday.

The books with be part of the cost of admission to Dem fundraisers to help spike sales numbers. But other than Stonewall Dems, doubtful many rank and file Dems will be voluntarily buying this book.

If McGreevey were 'transgender,' he could be on one of the 2-3 new DSC/transgender committees Cryan and Legreide tripped over each other to create in the wake of Legreide's nasty comments to 'Cher.' Or perhaps he could work on getting the new Cryan legislation introduced, also as a result of having to grovel after Legreide's stupid/mean comments. I don't think "grovel" is an overstatement in this case, do you? Literally, could Cryan and Legreide have given anything else to the group Legreide offended? I guess that will teach her to keep her nasty comments to herself - and help define for the rest of us the word "grovel." Ouch!

no fan of Legreide but almost anywhere else in America and I suspect to many traditional democrats in this state, that would not have been particularly offensive. Maybe Legreide knows that kind of thing will not attract mainstream, suburban voters and is what is driving the party to the fringes more and more. If the party were so progressive as Weinberg, then Cryan would be pushing for same sex marriage to be decided by the voters of this state and not by the courts. Even among teh base the support at the ballot is not there and maybe Legreide knows that.
