Overtaxed Town of the Week...OVERTAXED TOWN OF THE WEEK – GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP
Galloway Township Residents Have Had Enough – Tax Relief Is Needed ASAP

(Egg Harbor Township) – Second District Assembly candidates Jim Whelan and Damon Tyner today said it is imperative that a Citizen’s Convention on property taxes be held as soon as possible so homeowners in Galloway Township and other Atlantic County municipalities can receive the long overdue relief they deserve.

“Owning a home is a big part of the American dream, said Tyner. “There are a lot of young families in Galloway Township who are living their American dream but who are being overtaxed. A Citizen’s Convention on property taxes is a surefire way to fix the property tax mess plaguing New Jersey since the 1960s.

“The people of Galloway Township are being taxed out of their homes, said Whelan. “Atlantic County homeowners do not want more hot air or empty promises, they want action. Only a Citizen’s Convention can ensure that the needs of our residents -- not the Trenton special interests -- are taken seriously. Damon and I are committed to starting New Jersey down the road to real, lasting property tax reform from the very first day we are in office.

Whelan and Tyner support a Citizen’s Convention on property taxes. Whelan and Tyner announced Galloway Township as the "Overtaxed Town of the Week" as part of their “FedUp '05 Tour throughout the district.

To date, Whelan and Tyner have knocked on more than 1,700 doors in Galloway Township to meet voters and listen to their concerns. Residents cite over-taxation, particularly in property taxes, as their biggest frustration.
