Governor Jon Corzine has some bizarre obsession with lobbyist Hazel Gluck. The Hold Me Accountable guy appointed the former Kean administration cabinet official to serve on the Governmental Efficiency and Reform Correctional Sentencing Task Force. That appointment, announced at the conclusion of Corzine’s three-day urban crime tour, comes nine days after he named Gluck to the New Jersey Public Officers Salary Review Commission.
In August 2006, Corzine named Gluck to the Board of Trustees of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, but backed off after critics ripped him for Gluck's apparent conflict: she had been the lobbyist for the New Jersey Medical Society.
Some pundits say the latest Gluck nomination is no less conflicting: the Public Officers Salary Review Commission reviewing the salaries of the Governor and cabinet officers, which means, arguably, that she can help set the salaries of the people she lobbies.
Prediction: Gluck will head Republicans for Corzine in 2009, if he runs again.

Haha the Real Question Is...
Who heads Democrats for Chris Christie? I hope it's Lou Manzo, though in an ideal world he would be running for something else that year as well. Maybe Ferriero will if Corzine keeps sucking up to Loretta and her friends in the Soviet of Teaneck.
Prediction: Feeling the heat is the reason
Wally, the new appointment is yet another "consolation" for the consolation appointment last week. Corzine had to drop the earlier one when the State Ethics Commission received a complaint. Just like Carla - everybody gets something.
No real Republican cares who
No real Republican cares who she supports.
I just don't understand why
I just don't understand why Corzine keeps making these incredibly stupid moves! Where the hell is Abelow in all of this? Part of a Chief of Staff's job is to act as handler & theoretically stop bonehead moves like this.
As a Chris Christie
As a Chris Christie supporter I trust Gluck will do for the Corzine campaign what she's done for McCain in NJ - put him in last place.
This is a surprise?
Why shouldn't Corzine appoint a RINO like Hazel? It gives the veneer of bipartisanship to his appointments and she'll go along with everything the Democrats want.
Why isn't Hazel in jail?
Very disappointing to Democrats too.
?
The GOP can't stand her cause she undercuts all Republican candidates and the Dems don't trust her. She must be doing something for Corzine.
