By a vote of 24-14, the Republican State Committee tonight approved a plan that would award all of New Jersey's delegates to the 2008 Republican National Convention to the presidential candidate that wins the February 5 New Jersey primary. The vote is viewed as a major victory for the New Jersey front runner, Rudy Giuliani; the McCain and Romney campaigns worked hard to defeat the plan.

NJ will now be ignored by GOP candidates
With our primary moving to Feb 5th it looked like NJ may get some attention from Presidential candidates. With Rudy expecting to win NJ easily, and now with all the delegates, there is no reason for any of the GOP candidates to spend any time or money in NJ. If we voted for a delegate split NJ would still be in play. Guess we will have to watch the national news to find out how the race is going, there will be no activity in our state.
true
good point. This is pointless. Everyone and their mothers know Rudy is going to win NJ.
Don't Count Fred Out
Let's not coronate Rudy just yet... I think Fred Thompson has a real shot at winning in New Jersey.
Rudy will be gone long before NJ
An excommunicated Catholic on his third wife and a mistress in Houston isn't going anywhere. The state GOP just delivered every delegate to Fred Thompson.
as long as that crap McCain is beaten
then I am happy. McCain-Feingold harmed the 1st amendment and McCain-Kennedy Amnasty bill would have harmed America severely. He is a RINO. Impeach Bush? Only if the reason is that he violated his oath by refusing to close the border with Mexico and stop the invasion occurring there. If that were the reason I would say yes!
oh please
Hey, why don't you come up with a better Immigration Reform Bill? Don't worry they added alot of support to border enforcement and security to reach a deal.
Oh by the way your Immigration Reform bill would have to be bi-partisan at best, even leaning a little bit to the left. Something being done is better then the absolutely nothing being done. Why don't you be realistic?
You want to send 12 million immigrants back home?. Yeah thats possible. Maybe we'll go get Mitt Romney and the rest of the conservatives to round them up since the money to do that since the police force needed is beyond realism.
This bill is the death of John McCain, as if he already wasn't probably going to lose anyway. It's a shame really, in today's world everybody wants to be a critic but nobody wants to be realistic.
Just think what would have happened if the media never jumped all over this bill? I wonder how many people would have known about it then.
Bill, where did your family come from?
The history of immigration in this country is not pretty. Talk to an elderly Irish or Italian or Eastern European immigrant and see how they were treated when they came here. Believe me, no one was rolling out the red carpet for them. Like modern immigrants, they were forced into the worst imaginable jobs for paltry wages. An older friend of mine once recounted how his Italian immigrant father worked seven days a week in a tannery in Connecticut for slave wages, eventually dying at the ripe old age of 51 years because he was systematically poisoned to death by the chemicals to which he was exposed. Read about Carnegie's steel mills in Pittsburgh and how these Eastern European immigrants were driven like galley slaves. Then when they got up the nerve to demand better treatment, they were slaughtered by Pinkerton's hired guns. Or how about the fact that they used to hang signs saying "no dogs or Irish" in Boston eateries, segregating my Celtic ancestors from proper society. Then tell me about how great our current immigration and naturalization process works. This past week I was assisting someone who was attempting to LEGALLY immigrate to the US. This person was a professional with impeccable documentation, yet she was brought to tears by a DHS agent who arbitrarily threatened to tear up her work visa and deport her. Her previous paperwork was lost twice by DHS, which she fully documented. Our current immigration system is corrupt, inefficient and degrading. Moreover, how many industries are supported by the work performed by illegals? I guess you don't eat produce or dine at restaurants very often. I'd rather see them register (for security purposes it would be nice to know who is here and have their fingerprints on file to check against anti-terror databases), pay taxes and bolster a floundering social security system than simply suck $$$ out of our economy. Once they have a legal means of entry into and residence in this country, there is no excuse for remaining illegal. At that point anyone who remains illegally in this country should be expelled. No legislation is perfect. And remember, Ronald Reagan himself signed off on the 1986 amnesty. Should the greatest Republican President of his century have been impeached?
NO AMNESTY
lORDXenu. Yes the system stinks and the INS has unqualified staff, however in order to fix it you must go back to the system prior to 1964. 1) You Must get a financial sponsor 2) you must fill out all the paperwork 3) Undergo all medical testing, Aids, TB etc 4) You must learn English and pass a proper CIVICS and Language test 5) You must submit to fingerprinting at least twice. 6) You must take the full version of the oath of citizenship 7) There must be a strict quota system for each country You must fine all employers who break the law, build a fence etc. Just ask anyone from south of the Mexican border how difficult it is to get into Mexico.
LordXenu, exalted moron we came LEGALLY! & they ASSIMILATED!
Apparently you are unable to understand the difference between legal immigrants and INVADERS and COLONIZERS. Get a grip, moron
